3.4.3.4 Neutral start switch. Neutral start switch for the transmission shall be furnished.
3.4.3.5 Speedometer drive outlet. A speedometer drive outlet for the transmission shall be
furnished.
3.4.4 Drive line components. Drive line components shall be adequate to transmit the
maximum delivered torque of the engine, or torque developed through the maximum gear
reduction. Drive line shall be balanced to preclude vibration in conformance with the
manufacturer's recommendation. Means shall be furnished to lubricate all bearings and journals
without removing the drive line from the vehicle. Certify that the drive line is matched and rated
for use in conjunction with interfacing components.
3.4.5 Frame. Chassis frame shall be furnished. The frame shall be manufacturer's standard
for the vehicle furnished. Frame shall have sufficient structural strength and resisting bending
moment to at least equal the loads imposed with the fifth wheel in its lowered position and in its
maximum elevated position under the specified operating conditions with the vehicle loaded to
specified GVWR and GCWR. In addition, the frame and its components shall be capable of
meeting the transportability requirements specified in 3.1.1.4.2 and 3.5.1. Crossmembers, as a
minimum, shall be provided rearward of the transmission and at the rear of the chassis frame.
Chassis frame rails shall be cut-off immediately to the rear of the axle bracket or the frame
crossmember closest to the rear of this bracket. In any case, the rearmost back face of the frame
member shall not extend more than two inches past the rearmost back face of the tire. Back face
of each frame member shall be provided with a dock bumper. Bumpers shall be easily removed
for service.
3.4.6 Suspension. Vehicle shall be furnished with a front suspension system with
components having a rated capacity at least equal to the dynamic and static loads imposed on
each member, measured at the ground, with the vehicle loaded to the specified GVWR. The rear
axle shall be resiliently mounted to the vehicle. The axle resilient mounting shall have a rated
capacity at least equal to the dynamic and static loads imposed on each member, measured at the
ground, with the vehicle loaded to the specified GVWR. Sufficient clearance shall be furnished
between the vehicle frame and the inner tires. Vehicle shall be furnished with hydraulic double
acting shock absorbers at the front axle. Sufficient clearance between shock absorbers and front
brake components shall be furnished, when the shock absorber is extended to manufacturer's
extended length.
3.4.7 Axles. Front and rear axles shall be furnished. Axle ratings shall be at least equal to
the dynamic and static loads imposed on each axle, measured at the ground, with the vehicle
