(f) Three emergency reflective triangles conforming to Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Regulation 393.95(f)(2)(i)
(g) A steel stowage box equipped with weatherproof hinged cover and provisions for
locking, secured in the body; or a built-in side stowage compartment with side or bottom
hinged door(s) and a key operated lock. The stowage box cover shall be provided with a
retaining device to hold the cover in the fully open position
(h) For sizes 5T, 7T, 20T and 25T, and when specified for other sizes (see 6.2), a towing
sling suitable for towing automobiles. The sling shall include reinforced rubber straps to
prevent automobile bumper and grille damage. The sling lifting capacity shall be not less
than 1585 kg (3,500 pounds). The sling shall function in conjunction with the chains and
grab hooks in (c) above.

3.5.14 Electrical accessories. The following electrical accessories shall be furnished:
(a) Two swivel type sealed-beam floodlights, with base mounted weatherproof switches
installed at the rear of the cab or with a switch located in the cab. An indicator light shall
be located on the instrument panel and marked to indicate the function of the indicator
light and the cab switch
(b) Undercarriage mounted work light(s), stationary or folding type, providing illumination at
the rear of the vehicle. The lens shall be protected to prevent damage when the vehicle is
in transit. The light switch shall be located in the cab and marked to indicate the function
and position of the switch
(c) An elevated lighting bar containing rotating amber beacon(s) and brake stop lights
attached with reinforcement at a point on the vehicle centerline for 360-degree visibility.
The rotating amber beacon(s) shall be operated from the vehicle cab by means of a
separate switch with an indicator light located on the instrument panel, and shall be
marked to indicate the function of the indicator light and the switch
(d) An auxiliary safety light kit for use when towing a disabled vehicle that has no
functioning lights. The kit shall be comprised of two stop-tail-turn signals on a square
magnetic base, or on a strap-on light bar. 9.14 m (thirty feet) of cable with four
conductor plugs and a mating receptacle on the wrecker shall be provided. A 7.6 m
(25-foot) extension cable shall also be furnished. The light kit shall be stowed in a plastic
storage box
(e) Wiring conforming to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations 393.27 and 393.28.
3.5.15 Hydraulic system. The hydraulic system shall consist of single or tandem type pumps
for sizes 5T, 7T and 20T; and tandem pumps for sizes 25T through 50T; hydraulic cylinders,
strainer, filter, reservoir, pressure relief valve and all necessary lines, lockouts, restrictors, and
