MIL-B-62152A(AT)
4.3.2 Vehicle weight. The vehicle, with seats installed and fully equipped and furnished,
shall be weighed to determine curb weight and distribution of curb weight on front and rear axles.
The imposed loading on front and rear axles will be computed using the curb weight and the
payload, uniformly distributed over the vehicle load area, to provide the GVW as specified
in 3.2.5. Calculated imposed loads on front and rear axles will be utilized to ascertain that
suspension, axles, and tires furnished are of adequate capacity to meet contractual requirements.
4.3.3 Road test. The vehicle will be examined and road tested for a distance of not less
than 500 miles with payload by the contractor to assure that the vehicle will operate in
accordance with the contractual requirements.
4.3.4 Noise, heating and air conditioning tests. The vehicle shall be tested to determine
conformance to all noise level, heating and air conditioning requirements specified in 3.5.2.1,
3.5.10.1 and 3.5.10.4, respectively. Tests shall be as specified in 4.3.4.1 and 4.3.4.2. Test data,
including a description of all applicable and pertinent test conditions, shall be recorded and
furnished to the Government representatives.
4.3.4.1 Noise levels (see 3.5.2.1). Sound measurements will be made with sound
measuring equipment which meets the requirements of "American National Standard
Specification for Sound Level Meters," Type 2, ANSI S1.4-71; "American National Standard
Specification for Octave, Half Octave, and Third Octave Band filter sets," S1.11-66; and
"USA Standard Preferred Frequencies and Band Numbers for Acoustical Measurements,"
USAS S1.6-67.
4.3.4.1.1 Test conditions. Sound levels shall be taken at 1 foot, 3 foot and 6 foot
microphone height positions at three locations in the aisle, (a) next to the front passenger seat,
(b) next to the center passenger seat, and (c) next to the rear passenger seat with vehicle traveling
at 30 and 55 mph in direct drive on a dry smooth level paved road with all powered accessories
operating, all windows closed, and no more than four people within the vehicle. The test shall be
conducted under conditions of minimal ambient noise, the level of which shall be recorded.
4.3.4.1.2 Meter calibration. The sound level meter shall have been calibrated either by
the manufacturer, in the manufacturer's local office or by the contractor using the manufacturer's
approved calibration equipment and techniques within a period of one day of its use in these
measurements.
