Zincs.- The upstream side of the inter and after coolers shall be fitted with zincs of a
3.3.15.7
design similar to any one of those shown on Drawing 5000-S4823-841055.  The zincs shall have as large
a surface area as is practicable for maximum electrolytic protection without causing excessive turbu-
lence.  The zincs shall be easily removable for inspection and replacement.  Zincs shall De special high
grade material as specified in Specification MIL-A-18001.
Unloading. - All compressors shall be fitted with automatic unloading valves so that the
will always be started in the completely unloaded condition, that is, no load except inertia
load of the machine (see 3.5.3. 3),
Fittings.-
3.3.17. 1 Gages and gage board.- All gages shall be of the 3-1 /2-inch size and as shown in
Specification 45G1.  All gages, instruments, and similar items, shall be mounted. on a common gage
board.  The gage board shall be provided with brackets for m ounting on the compressor, Mounting
brackets shall be of a type which can be removed from the compressor when the gage board is bulkhead
mounted.  Pressure gages shall be provided to indicate the air-delivery pressure from each stage of
compress ion, the pressure in the circulation water system and the lubricating oil pressure.. All gages
shall be suitably identified.  The air gages for each stage shall be marked to show the normal designed
working pressure, and such working pressures shall be indicated on drawings technical manuals.
3.3. 20 Jacking device. - Suitable provision shall be made for jacking the compressor over, if it is
impractical to turn the machine by hand.
3.3.21 Welding and allied processes. - Welding and allied processes shall be in accordance with
Section S1-4.
