3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Description. The steering Controller, LD 539991, consits pri-
marily of a step positioner mechanically coupled to a synchro control
differential transmitter. Direct current pulses applied to the step
positioner cause rotation of the step positioner and control transformer
shafts in accurate increments of two degrees. The synchro control trans-
former accepts electrical signals from the synchro pick-off of a course
gyro. The signal is modified by the angular mechanical position of the
control transformer shaft so that the output of the control transformer
may be used to order directional changes in horizontal (azimuth) heading.
