3.4.1 Colorfastness.  The dyed cloth shall show fastness to laundering (after 3 cycles),
mocking, and light (20 hours) equal to or better than the standard sample. When no standard
sample has been established or designated as applicable to colorfastness, the dyed and finished
cloth shall show "good" fastness to laundering (after 3 cycles), light (after 20 hours exposure) and
shall show a Munsell Value for crocking, in accordance with AATCC Color transference chart, not
lower than 8.5 (see 4.5).
3.5 Finish. The coating compound shall be an approved, acrylic or a urethane-acrylic aqueous
polymeric system which is corrective with water repellent silicons and flame retardant elements. The
compound shall be compatible with the base cloth to ensure its proper adherence to the yams of
the base cloth. The coating shall be applied to both the face and back of the base cloth.
3.6 Shrinkage The finished cloth shall not shrink nor elongate more than 2 percent in the
warp and falling directions when tested in accordance with 4.5.
3.7 Width. The width inclusive of salvage shall be as specified by the contracting activity with
a plus or minus toerance of 2 percent (see 6.2).
3.8 Designs and patterns.
The designs and patterns, dyed color or natural, shall be as
specified (see 6.2).
3.9 Length and put-up. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2) cloth shall be in one continuous
length of 50 plus or minus 2-1/2 yards, put-up in rolls.
3.10 Physical requirements. The finished cloth shall conform to the requirements specified
in table I when tested in accordance with table II.
3.11 Marking. The length of each roll shall be legibly marked with indelible ink on a ticket
securely attached to the roll.
3.12 Workmanship. The finished cloth shall conform to the quality established herein. The
demerit points per 100 square yards, when calculated as specified herein, shall not exceed the
established maximum point value.
