3.8.3 Synchronization and Heading Set - A manual control as shown in
figures 4 and 5 shall be provided to effect the fast synchronization and
heading set as specified in 3.7.2. When in the DG mode, the heading set
control markings shall indicate in which direction the control knob is to
be turned to provide a decreasing or increasing heading. The control
shall be of the push-to-turn, spring return-to-center type.

3.8.3.1 Push-to-Sync - When the heading set control is pushed,
push-to-synchronize circuit specified in 3.7.2.1 shall be actuated.
3.8.3.2 Timed Automatic Synchronization - provisions shall be included
in the following controllers to initiate a 10 2 second automatic fast
synchronization cycle whenever the mode selector switch is changed from
either EMERG or DG to the SLAVED mode.

3.8.3.3 Fast Erection - The compass system controller shall incorporate
means to operate the fast erection relay in the electronic control
amplifier to accomplish fast erection of the vertical gyro specified in
3.6.4.3.3.

heading set control knob shall cause fast erection if the aircraft lead
between connector 3J1-12 and connector 2J3-12 is installed as shown in
figure 6.

An alternative means for fast erection when utilizing

any of the above controllers if the wire between connector 3J1-12 and
connector 2J3-12 is not installed, is to provide an external normally
open spring-return switch connected between connector 2J4-13 and power
ground.

switch labeled ERECT, when pushed, shall cause fast erection. An
aircraft interconnection must be provided between connector 3J1-12 and
connector 2J3-12 as shown in figure 6.
