4.3.4.1 Government rights to documentation.- Inspection equipment drawings
and lists provided and revised in accordance with the requirements of this
specification may be used by DOD activities for design, procurement, manufacture,
testing, evaluation, production and receiving inspection, overhaul, shipping,
storage, identification of stock, ordering and storage of replacement parts,
inspection of items at overhaul, general maintenance of equipment, construction,
survey, and whenever inspection equipment drawings are needed.
4.4 Test methods and procedures.
4.4.1 Dimensional inspection of stock specimen.- Fifteen (15) measurements
shall be taken on each sample specimen for the total thickness dimension and
the depth across the width-of the specimen at five (5) places along the length.
The spacing of the readings shall be approximately uniform.  One measurement for
each characteristic shall be performed at each of the fifteen (15) measuring
points on the specimen.  An average value for each characteristic shall be computed
for each specimen for which these measurements were obtained.  In addition to the
above stock specimens from a new, repaired, or adjusted tool entering production
shall the following characteristics measured:  groove radius, spherical radius, and
the center distance dimension.
4.4.2 Salt spray.- This test shall be conducted in accordance with FED-STD-141.
Parts so tested shall not be returned to the lot.  Salt solution shall be 5 percent.
4.4.3 Push test of rotating band on body assembly.- The body assembly shall
be placed in the fixture specified on the Equipment List and the force specified on
Dwg. 9238908 shall be applied.  observation shall he made for the requirement
specified on Drawing 9238908.  NOTE:  Deformation of the chamfered leading edge
of the rotating band caused by compressior in the test fixture is permissible.
4.4.4 Ultrasonic inspection.- Bodies shall be inspected for the presence of
cracks, voids, pipes or inclusions, etc. , along the cylindrical section of the
body throughout the entire wall thickness including base section gaged externally.
This test shall be performed and calibrated as shown on the Equipment List. If
calibration shows equipment not to be performing correctly, the quantity represented
prior to calibration shall be reprocessed.
4.4.4.1 Bodies shall he inspected for the presence of cracks, voids, pipes or
inclusions, etc., along the base sections to a depth of . 060 inches gaged externally.
This test is a non-destructive test and shall be performed and calibrated as shown
on the Equipment List.  If calibration shows equipment not to be performing correctly,
the quantity
presented prior to calibration shall be reprocessed.
5.
PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5.1 Preservation and Packaging
5.1.1 Level C.- The body assembly shall be preserved and packaged in accordance
with MIL-STD-1169.
