4.5.2.2.4 Conditioned impact. Condition the batten spreaders at -40 5 F
(-40 3 C) and at that temperature subject the spreaders to the test
spcified in 4.5.2.2.2. Nonconformance to 3.5.3.4 shall constitute failure of
this test.
4.5.2.2.5 orders of testing. The batten Spreader impact test (see
4.5.2.2.2) shall be performed  first. The stiffness and strength test (see
4.5.2.2.1) will then be performed on the same sample. The conditioned impact
test (see 4.5.2.2.4) shall be performed on a separate sample and the residual
deflection test (see 4.5.2.2.3) shall be performed on a separate sample.
4.5.2.3 Batten spreader adapter. Specimens of the material from which the
batten spreader adapters are to be manufactured shall be tested as specified
in table VI. Nonconformance to 3.6 shall constitute failure of this test.
4.5.3 Reliablility. Using the reliability specified in 3.10, the camouflage
screening support system shall be tested as specified herein.

4.5.3.1 Failure definition. A failure is defined as any malfunction of the
support system which the operator or crew cannot correct by repair or
replacement  action  using  maintenance  tools,  available  spares,  or
the repair kit within 15 minutes and which cause or may cause:
a. Failure to commence operation, cessation of operation, or degradation
of performance capability of system/subsystem below designated level.
b. Serious damage to system/subsystem by continued operation.
c. Serious personnel safety hazards.
4.5.3.2 Test procedure. For reliability purposes a test cycle is defined
as unpacking, erecting, utilizing a camouflage screen module, disassembly and
repacking a single suport system. A sample size of 6 support systems will be
