2.3 Order of precedence.
In the event of a conflict between the text of this
specification and the references cited herein (except for associated detail
Specifications,  specification sheets or MS standards), the text of this
specification shall take precedence.
Nothing in this specification, however,
shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has
been obtained.
REQUIREMENTS
3.
3.1 Description.
The compressor unit shall be portable, and shall consist of
a reciprocating compressor, driven by a diesel engine, and Shall  produce not less
than 20 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of free air at 5000 pounds per square inch
gage (psig).  The engine and compressor unit shall be shock mounted. The
compressor unit shall be complete and self-contained, including a final air
filter and all other accessories.
The compressor unit shall weigh not more than
1500 pounds drv and the dimensions shall not exceed 50 inches in height, 60
inches in length, and 48 inches in width.
A water resistant tarpaulin shall be
provided.
Diving/diving support equipment shall meet all standards of
manufacturing diving/diving support equipment as approved by Naval Sea Systems
Command , Code OOC, Alexandria, VA 20362.
Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be

Any changes or
deviations of compressors from the approved first article during production will
be subject to the approval of the contracting officer.
Approval of the first
article will not relieve the contractor of his obligation to furnish compressors
conforming to this specification.
3.3 Material.
Material shall be as specified herein.
Materials not
specified shall be selected by the contractor and shall be subject to all
provisions of this specification.
3.3.1 Material deterioration prevention and control.
The compressor shall be
fabricated from compatible materials, inherently corrosion resistant or treated
