TEST METHOD NO. 30
FUNCTIONAL EVALUATION TEST
1. TEST COURSE:
The test course shall be a level improved surface laid out in
accordance with figure A-3.
2. TEST APPARATUS:
a. Stopwatch.
b. M915 tractor and M871 semitrailer.
c. Sixteen 20 foot 180 containers of which two are fully loaded
(i.e., total weight of 44,800 pounds each).
d. Sling and spreader bar for 20 foot container handling.
3. TEST PROCEDURE:
a. Start with the loaded containers at positions A and B (see
figure A-3), the crane and trailer in position to load the
container at A onto the trailer, and the sling and spreader
bar on the hook block. Two tagmen shall be used for
container engaging and disengaging.
b. Load the container at A onto the trailer and move the crane
and trailer adjacent to position C. Unload the container
from the trailer to C. Move the crane and trailer adjacent
to B. Load the container at B onto the trailer. Move the
crane and trailer adjacent to D.  Unload the container from
the trailer to D.
c. Move the crane and trailer adjacent to C. Load the container
at C onto the trailer. Move the crane and trailer adjacent
to A and unload the container from the trailer to A. Move
the crane and trailer adjacent to D. Load the container at D
onto the trailer. Move the crane and trailer adjacent to B
and unload the container from the trailer to B.
d. Move the crane and trailer adjacent to A.
e. Repeat steps b, c, and d 199 times.
f. Steps b, c, and d constitute a cycle. Record the time
required to complete each cycle as well as total time to
complete all 200 cycles.
