TEST METHOD No. 31
LOAD MOMENT INDICATOR
1. TEST COURSE:
The test course shall be a hard, level surface with provision
for anchoring the crane to prevent tipping.
2. TEST PROCEDURE:
a. Begin with thc crane set up on its outriggers.
b. Engage and lift a 15,000 pound load. Starting at a radius well
within the load rating chart for that load, slowly increase
the radius until the visual warning signal (amber light) of
the load moment indicator is activated. Record the radius and
boom angle at this point.
c. Continue to increase the radius until the visual (red light)
and audible warning single of the load moment indicator is
activated. Record the radius and boom angle.
d. Continue to increase the radius until the load moment
indicator automatic lockout and audible alarm have been
engaged. Record the radius and boom angle at this point.
e. Repeat steps b and c with 30,000, 45,000, 60,000, and 73,000
pound actual loads (i.e., load includes the weight of slings
and spreaderbars used for lifting).
