3.8 Granulation.  The Eimite shall comply with the granulation
requirements shown in Table II, using the US Standard sieves
conforming to Specification RR-S-366 when tested as specified in
4.5.6.

3.9 Heat of reaction and the volume of gaseous products.  The
heat of reaction shall not be less than 1550 cal/gm, and the volume
of gaseous products shall be 325 + 50 ml/gm when tested as specified

in 4.5.7.
3.10  First article inspection.  When specified in the contract
or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article

inspection in accordance with the technical provisions herein.

3.11 Workmanship.  All parts and assemblies shall be fabricated
and loaded in a thorough, workmanlike manner.  They shall be free of
burrs, sharp edges, cracks, dirt, corrosion products and other
foreign matter.  The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to
any part nor shall the parts `be contaminated by the cleaning agent.
Exterior surface coatings shall be continuous except for a few light
scratches not exposing base material.  All required mar kings shall

be neat and sharply defined.
4.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection and standard quality
unless otherwise specified herein or in the
assurance provisions.

made a part of this detail specification.
4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance.  All items must meet all
requirements of sections 3 and 5.  The inspection set forth in this
specification shall become a part of the contractor's overall
inspection system or quality program.  The absence of any inspection
requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor
of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies
submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all
requirements of the contract.  Sampling in quality conformance does
not authorize submission of known defective material, either
indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance
of defective material.
