The FCC-FTS unit shall be subjected

to a watertight test upon completion of the transit drop test
(paragraph 5. 8).  The applicable test is listed in Table XVII with
cross reference to MIL-T-28800 and the test paragraph in this
procedure.
4. 8.1.7.1 Test facility.  The watertight test shall be
performed by submersion of the FCC-FTS within a container of
sufficient capacity to allow 3 feet of tap water above the FCC-FTS.
Alternately the FCC-FTS case shall be covered with 3 inches of water
and the pressure within the FCC-FTS reduced to 13.3 psi (approx 2500
ft altitude, 685 torr, 27 in Hg).
4. 8.1.7.2 Test performance.  With the FCC-FTS covers closed and
secured, place the non-operative test unit in the watertight test
container .  Using tap water, fill the oontainer until a depth of 3
feet above the test unit is obtained.  Alternately fill the
container to a depth of 3 inches above the test unit and reduce the
pressure within the case to 13.3 + 1 psi. Maintain these conditions
for a minimum period of one hour.
4.8.1.7.3 Post watertight test. Upon completion of the
watertight test, remove the FCC-FTS unit from the container and
remove any excess water from the case surface by allowing it to run
off or gently removing by wiping with industrial Kimwipes or
equivalent.  Open the test unit and examine for evidence of water or
moisture within the FCC-FTS case.  Entry of water during the test
shall be cause for rejection.  Record the results on the applicable
data sheet.  Obtain a test equipment list and a glossy photograph of
the test setup.

equipment (i.e., panel assembly, logic assembly, cables, manual)
shall be placed in the case and the cover shall be locked in place.
