4.4.3 Testing.
*4.4.3.1  Aircraft vibration test (see 3.4) Major A
defect. - A sample of two flare sets shall be selected for
this test.  Following the vibration aircraft test, the sam-
ples shall be functioned.  If any illuminant assembly fails
to ignite or any Illuminant assembly fails to meet the x-ray
requirements of paragraph 4.4.2.7, of MIL-F-60035 or if three
(3) or more flares break up into two or more large pieces,
the lot shall be rejected.  Breakage of a necked screw cap
during or before completion of vibration in the x or z axis
and before 50 percent of vibration is completed in the y
axis shall be cause for rejection of the lot.  The order of
conducting vibration in the x and z axis may be varied but
vibration in both axis must precede vibration in the y axis.
In the event a necked screw cap, breaks after completion of
50 percent of vibration in the y axis, the test shall be
stopped and the flare set shall be examined for other break-
age and damage or unusual wear and the squib circuit resis-
tance shall be checked.  If' upon this examination no unusual
wear or damage is revealed, the test shall be resumed. If,
however, this condition is revealed, the flare set shall be
replaced and the vibration test re-run (see 6.5).
4.4.3.2 Moisture content (all Packing material) See
Dwg 8860600, Major A defect. - The contractor shall provide
adequate controls to assure compliance with the requirements.
For verification the contractor shall select, as a minimum,
