4.4.3 Testing. Testing is described in the first article and
quality conformance inspection tables.
4.4.3.1 Spare parts.  Spare parts furnished with an inspection lot
will be accepted provided like parts of the lot are accepted after all
inspections and tests. In case of a failure of any part in any
acceptance inspection and tests, like spare parts from the same lot as
the defective components shall be accepted only after screening by the
contractor for the revealed defect and resubmitting for inspection by the
Government.
4.4.3.2 Replacement parts.  Each lot of replacement parts will
ordinarily be accepted on the basis of the inspections and tests of this
specification, however, the Government inspector may, if he deems it
necessary, submit a representative sample of replacement parts for the
inspections and tests of this spectfication.
4.4.4 Inspection equipment.  The inspection equipment required to
perform the examinations and tests prescribed herein is described in the
Paragraph Reference/Inspection Method Column in the tables starting with
paragraph 4.4.2.1.  The contractor shall submit for approval, all
inspection equipment designs in accordance with the terms of the
contract.  See MIL-W-63150 and 6.3 herein.
4.5 Test methods and Procedures.
4.5.1 Mechanical properties of sprocket shaft (tensile strength,
yield and elongation). The Sprocket Shatfts shall be subjected to these
tests in accordance with the applicable drawing using test procedures
specified in ASTM E 8.  All procedures and equipment shall be
satisfactory to the Government.  If any Sprocket fails to comply with the
requirements specified on the applicable drawing, the lot shall be
rejected.
4.5.2 Hardness.  Samples shall be selected from each heat treatment
batch. (See Note) The test shall be performed as specified in ASTM E 18.
Each heat treat batch shall remain segregated until completion of all
required tests.  If any sample falls to comply with the specified
hardness requirement, the sample shall be classed defective.
NOTE:
A heat-treatment batch shall be defined as parts that have been
heat-treated at the same time in the same furnace and quench
bath for each of all phases of the entire heat-treatment process.
