4.5.3 Salt spray test.  Samples shall be selected from each lot and
subjected to the salt spray test in accordance with the procedures in
ASTM B 117. Unless otherwise specified on the applicable drawing the
minimum exposure time shall be one and one half (1 1/2) hours using a 5%
sodium chloride solution. If any part shown evidence of corrosion (red
rust, salt deposits, etc.), it shall be classed defective and the lot
shall be rejected. This is a destructive test. Any part subjective to
it shall not be returned to the lot unless otherwise specified by the
contracting officer.
4.5.4 Special tests and examinations of motor, 28 VDC.
4.5.4.1 Environmental and performance tests of motor.
4.5.4.1.1 Performance tests.  The motor selected shall be subjected
to all the performance tests specified on the appliable drawing. These
shall include output, torque, speed and load, current, deceleration,
stall torque time, stall condition. Test equipment and procedures shall
be in accordance with the applicable drawing and satisfactory to the
contracting officer. If any motor fails to comply with any test
requirement, it shall be classed defective and the lot shall be rejectd
4.5.4.1.2  Environmental . The motor selected shall be
subjected to all environmental tests specified on the applicable
drawing. These shall include altitude performance, extreme temperature
performance, vibration, shock, humidity, salt fog, Sand and dust and
fungus resistance tests. Test equipment and procedures shall be in
accordance with the applicable drawing, anti MIL-STD-810 and satisfactory
to the contracting officer. If any motor fails to comply with any test
requirement, it shall be classed defective and the lot rejected.
4.5.4.2 Service life. The motor specified shall be subjected to the
service life test as specified on the applicable drawing. Provisions
shall be made for determining output, torque, speed and load, current,
deceleration, stall torque time, stall condition on the first duty and
last duty cycle. Test equipment and procedures shall be in accordance
with the applicable drawing and satisfactory to the contracting officer.
If any motor fails to comply with the specified requirement it shall be
classed defective and the lot shall be rejected.
4.5.4.3 Output shaft rotation of motor. The output shaft of the
motor shall be turned In the direction of rotation and observation made
for any movement of the internal gear train. The test shall be performed
as specified in the applicable drawing using methods and equipment
satisfactory to the contracting officer. If any motor fails to comply
with the specified requirements it shall be classed defective.
