Testing facilities and apparatus shall
4.6.4.1 Facilities and apparatus.
be in accordance with the following:
The surfaces of the three gel components shall be at least 6 feet
below the intake ports of the unit.
b. Flow meters shall be installed in the Solution A, Solution B, and
fuel supply lines. The flowmeters shall measure volumes with an accuracy of
2 percent and shall not restrict the rate of flow of the fluid.
4.6.4.2 Procedure. Set up the unit for operation in accordance with
NAVAIR 19-1-112. Start the unit and assure production of gel. Close the
discharge valve and record readings on each of the three flowmeters. Open the
discharge valve to full open and produce gel for 60 2 seconds, close
discharge valve and record flowmeter readings. Open discharge valve to full
open and produce gel for 120 2 seconds, close discharge valve and record
flowmeter readings. Again open discharge valve to full open and produce gel
for 120 2 seconds, close discharge valve, shut unit off and record
flowmeter readings. Compute the blending and capacity ratios for each of the
gel producing sequences as follows:
A = volume of Solution A (gallons)
B = volume of Solution B (gallons)
F = volume of fuel (gallons)
T = "Open" time for discharge valve (minutes)
4.6.4.2.1 Blending formulas,
RA = Ratio of volume of Solution A to 100 volumes of fuel
RA = 100A
F
RB~ = Ratio of volume of Solution B to 100 volumes of fuel
RB = 100B
F

C = Capacity of unit (gpm)
C=A+B+F

Inspection for leakage shall be conducted under standard
