5.1.1.1 Cleaning.  Unless otherwise specified, the unit shall be cleaned
in accordance with MIL-P-116, Method C-1.
5.1.1.2 Drying.  Unless otherwise specified, the unit shall be dried in
accordance with MIL-P-116 by either or both Methods D-4 and D-1.
Preservation.  Unless otherwise specified,
all units shall be

thoroughly
preserved by flushing (see NAVAIR 19-1-112)
with hydraulic fluid in
with MIL-H-83282.  Any preservation applied
by the contractor shall

5.1.1.4 Unit packs.  Unless otherwise specified, the gelling unit and hose
components shall be packed in accordance with the methods of MIL-P-116
designated herein ensuring compliance with the applicable requirements of that
specification.

5.1.1.4.1 Gelling unit.
with MIL-P-116, Method III.
5.1.1.4.2 Hose components.  The hose components shall be packaged in
accordance with MIL-P-116 and as follows:
a. Suction Hose Probe Assembly (2581674) - seal ends with tape in
accordance with PPP-T-60, Type III.
b. Discharge Hose Assembly (2581665) - seal ends with tape in
accordance with PPP-T-60, Type III.
c. After packaging in accordance with a and b above, place hose into
a carton conforming to PPP-B-636 and seal with tape conforming to PPP-T-97 on
centers and edges making a seal.
Packing shall be Level A or Level C as specified (see 6.2).
5.2 Packing.
5.2.1 Level A.
5.2.1.1 Exterior containers.  The gelling unit packaged as specified in
5.1.1.4.1 shall be packed into a plywood box, shielded in accordance with
PPP-B-601, and bolted in place.  The box shall be provided with two skids
positioned on 38 inch centers.
5.1.1.2 Hose components packing.  The hoses as packaged under 5.1.1.4.2
shall be positioned and secured to the base (aft} utilizing strapping
conforming to QQ-S-781.
5.2.2 Level C.  The gelling unit and components packaged in accordance
with 5.1.1.4.1 and 5.1.1.4.2 shall be packed to afford protection against
damage during shipment from the supply source to the first receiving activity
for immediate use.  Containers shall comply with Uniform Freight
Classification Rules or other common carrier regulations applicable to the
modes of transportation.
5.3 Marking.
