4.6.3 Proof firing test. Each howitzer shall be proof
fired as specified in Table I. Data shall be recorded on all
rounds for breech pressure, recoil cycle time, rod pull curves~
recoil length and terminal velocity in counterrecoil. Rounds
shall be fired in the specified sequence, however, if the test
will unreasonably be prolonged due to range restrictions, the
sequence for round numbers three (3) through eight (8) may be
rearranged . Additionally, if there is a delay between rounds
greater than 10 minutes, one M119A1 warmer must be fired before
the next test round is fired. Rounds, number 1 and 2, are
warmers and acceptance shall not be based on results from these
unless structural or functional failure occurs. At the
completion of the test, a comprehensive visual-manual
examination shall be conducted to determine compliance with the
requirements. If any of the requirements of paragraphs 3.3.3
through 3.3.3.5 are not met, the howitzer shall be rejected.
