MIL-H-8891A
Flexible connections - Whenever relative motion exists
*
3.10.15
between two points, metal coiled tubing in accordance with ARP 584 iS pre-
ferred.
.
Hose assemblies - Hose assemblies shall not be subjected
*
3.10.15.1
to torsional deflection (twisting) when installed, or during system actuation.
No hose clamp type installation shall be used in hydraulic systems. If
possible, additional installation space shall be provided to permit replace-
ment with spares of slightly larger space envelope requirements.
Hose support - The support of a flexible line shall be
*
3.10.15.2
such that it will never tend to cause deflection of the rigid lines under
any possible relative motion that may occur. Flexible hose between two
rigid connections may have excessive motion restrained where necessary but
shall never be rigidly supported as by a tight rigid clamp around the out-
side diameter of the flexible hose.  Extreme care should be used in the
selection and placement of the supports to assure the flexible line is not
restricted and does not rub on structure or adjacent members during any
portion of its excursion.
Hose bend radii - The minimum radius of bend of hose
*
3.10.15.3
assemblies shall be a function of hose size and flexing range to which the
hose installation will be subjected. The minimum bend radii for hoses shall
be as listed in the applicable hose specifications
*
Hose protection - Hose shall be suitably protected
3.10.15.4
against chafing where necessary to preclude damage to the hose and to the
adjoining structure tubing, wiring, and other equipment.  Hose assemblies
(including end fittings) of amphibious aircraft which are subject to salt
water immersion shall be adequately protected.
*
Provisions for hose elongation and contraction - Hose
3.10.15.5
assemblies shall be so selected and installed that elongation and contraction
under pressure, within the hose specification limits, will not be detrimental
to the installation either by causing strains on the end fittings or excess-
ive binding or chafing of the hose.
