fied as follows:
a . Preproduction and periodic production inspection (See 4.5.)
b. Quality conformance inspection (See 4.6.)
4.3 Sampling. (See 6.2.1.)
4.3.1  Lot  size.  T h e term "lot" shall mean "inspection lot"; that is, a
c o l l e c t i o n of product submitted by a supplier for inspection. Unless otherwise
s p e c i f i e d in the contract or order, the number of product in each lot shall be
t h r e e hundred (300).
4 . 3 . 2 P r e p r o d u c t i o n s a m p l e .  A preproduction sample of twenty (20)
i g n i t e r s , manufactured in accordance with 3.2, shall be subjected to the prepro-
d u c t i o n tests detailed in 4.5.  A c c e p t a n c e of the preproduction sample shall be
based on no defects in the sample.  F u r t h e r production of the igniters by the
s u p p l i e r , prior to approval of the preproduction sample, shall be at the supplier's
risk.
4 . 3 . 3 P e r i o d i c p r o d u c t i o n s a m p l e .  F r o m each succeeding lot of three
h u n d r e d (300) or less, a random sample of ten (10) igniters shall be selected.
T h e s e sample units shall be subjected to the tests of 4.5. The igniters shall be
c o n s i d e r e d satisfactory if they meet all specification and pertinent drawing re-
q u i r e m e n t s and withstand the tests specified in 4.5. (See Table I.) When a de-
fective unit is found in any lot, acceptance of all units in the lot shall be withheld
a n d the contractor shall:
D e t e r m i n e the cause of the defect.

b . Take the necessary action, with the concurrence of the pro-
c u r i n g activity, to correct or eliminate the defect from all
units in the lot and, if so directed by the procuring activity,
f r o m those units previously shipped.
S u b m i t to the procuring activity for approval, the proposed
c.
c o r r e c t i v e action to prevent recurrence of the defect.
4 . 3 . 4 Q u a l i t y conformance inspection sampling.  S a m p l e s shall be selected
a s specified i n 4.6 and shall be used to determine the acceptability of the igniters
inspected as s p e c i f i e d in 4.6.
