3.2.1.4 Sleeve lock latch. The sleeve lock latch shall rotate about
the sleeve lock pin throughout its full range of travel, and when released
shall return to its original position under spring action. The sleeve
lock latch shall retain the sliding sleeve in the lock position and shall
disengage the sliding sleeve when the sleeve lock latch is manually
rotated.
3.2.1.5 Sliding sleeve. The sliding sleeve shall slide on the
right rear leg throughout its full range of travel without binding, except
that it shall require manual forcing into the locking position for a dis-
tance within the range specified on Drawing F6507135.
3.2.1.6 Indexing lever assembly. The indexing lever shall rotate
about the pin throughout its full range of travel, and wvhen released shall
return to its original position under spring action. The indexing pin
shall engage in the holes of the lower leg assemblies (front, left rear,
and right rear) to retain the lower leg assemblies in any of the five
indexed positions.
3.2.2 Front leg clamping screw nut. The front leg clamping screw
nut shall be retained to the front leg clamping screw by the pin and shall
be capable of being manually rotated throughout its full range of travel.
When the front leg clamping screw nut is loosened, it shall release the
tension in the front leg yoke assembly to allow the serrations of the
front leg yoke assembly to disengage from the serrated-plates on the
tripod head to allow movement of the front leg. When the front leg
clamping screw nut is tightened it shall create a clamping action of the
front leg yoke assembly causing the serrations of the front leg yoke
assembly to engage the serrated plates on the tripod head and shall se-
curely lock the front leg assembly in any position set (see 3,3)0
3.2.3 Pintle. With the pintle lock engaged in the groove of the
pintle, the pintle shall rotate in the sleeve bearing throughout the full
360 degrees and there shall be no vertical movement. With the pintle lock
disengaged from the groove of the pintle, the pintle shall disassemble
from the sleeve bearing without binding. The pintle shall be capable of
being assembled to the sleeve bearing when the pintle lock is in the
locked position.
3.2.4 Pintle lock assembly The pintle lock assembly shall be
securely retained to the tripod head assembly by the two screws so that
there shall be no relative movement.
3.2.4.1 Pintle lock. The pintle lock shall be capable of engaging
in the corresponding groove of the pintle, retaining the pintle, and re-
maining in this position by spring action. The pintle lock shall be
capable of being disengaged from the groove of the pintle by manually
rotating the pintle lock release cam, and shall be capable of being held
in the disengaged position by action of the pintle lock release cam.
