4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements
specified herein are classsified as follows:
a.
First article inspection (See 4.3).
b.
Quality conformance inspection (See 4.4).
4.3 First article inspection.
4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article
sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in
accordance with provisions of 4.3.2. The first article sample shall
consist of the following items in sample quantities as indicated
below and Table I.
a.
one (1) container of the base resin.
b.
One (1) container of the hardener.
4.3.2 Inspection to be performed.
See MIL-A-48078 and Table I
and II as specified herein.
4.3.2.1 Base resin and hardener components.
a.
Certifications shall be provided for the examinations
and tests specified in 4.4.2.1 and 4.4.2.2 for the two silicas, and
shall include complete test results for the particle size
distribution.
b. Certification shall be provided for formulation
completeness and shall include the actual. weights or percentages by
weight of all constituents used in formulating the base resin.
c. One sample of the base resin shall be tested for
viscosity as specified in 4.5.1.
d.
Certification shall be provided for formulation
completeness and shall include the actual weights or percentages by
weight of all constituents used in formulating the hardener.
e. One sample of the hardener shall be tested for
viscosity as specified in 4.5.2.
After completion of the tests for
4.3.2.2 Molding compound.
base resin and hardener viscosity a sufficient quantity of molding
compound shall be prepared in accordance with 4.5.3.1 and subjected
to the tests listed in Table I. Testing shall be as specified in
4.5.3.2 through 4.5.3.4. Test specimens will also be prepared in
accordance with 4.5.4.1 and subjected to the tests listed in Table
Testing shall be as specified in 4.5.4.2 through 4.5.4.10.
