3.17.5 Blower. A centrifugal-type blower shall be provided to supply air
for atomization to the burner. The blower shall have a centrifugal-
type wheel, steel shaft and housing, and drive. The blower shall have a
capacity to provide a sufficient quantity of air to the burner to assure
efficient operation of the burner at maximum burner capacity. The blower
shall be provided with not less than tWO antifriction-type bearings conform-
ing to FF-B-185. The blower intake shall be provided with an expanded-metal
or wire-mesh screen. The blower shall be rigidly mounted in a location at
the discretion of the supplier. Means for adjusting drive tension shall be
provided.
3.27.6. Ductwork. All metal ductwork and fittings required to connect the
exhaust-gas outlet of the dryer drum to the inlet of the fines collector,
to connect the outlet from the fines collector to the exhaust fan, and tO
connect the discharge of the blower to the atomizing air supply of the oil
burner shall be provided. All necessary draw bands, gaskets, and flanged
connections shall be provided to result in a tight duct system. Ducts shall

be provided with structural steel supports to assure a sturdy installation.
All ducts shall be removable for transport. A damper shall be provided in
the duct between the fines collector and the exhaust fan to control draft.
3.18 Hot-aggregate elevators* Two hot-aggregate elevators shall be pro-
vided and shall conform to 3.25, except that each shall be totally enclosed
and shall be provided with intake ports, flexible dusttight spout connections,
and removable pneumatic-tired dollies and towing attachments unless permanently

3.19 Grradation-control unit. The gradation-control unit shall consist of
a vibrating screen, a four-compartment bin with control gates, bin-level
indicators, apron feeder or feeders, test boxes, chutes, housings, ladders,
platforms, guards, and all other components required for the operation of
the unit as specified herein.
3.19.1 Capacity. The `gradation-control unit shall have a capacity to screen
and feed not less than 150 tons per hour of either limestone or gravel in
accordance with table I.
3.19.2 Vibrating screen. A horizontal or inclined vibrating-screen assembly
with interchangeable wire screen cloths of the sizes specified herein shall be
provided. The vibrating-screen assembly shall grade the aggregate into four
uniform sizes and scalp off oversize material. The screen shall discharge
each of the four sizes of aggregate into a separate compartment with the
smallest aggregate being discharged into the largest (fine sand) compartment.
The top deck shall be provided with an overflow chute to scalp off oversize
aggregate. The screen shall be equipped with screen cloths of the following
sizes:
