for the removal of fumes from the pugmill. The exhaust stack shall be con-
structed of' steel not less than 1/8 inch in thickness and shall be capable
of removal from and replacement on the pugmill with the tools provided with
the plant.
3.22.13.2 Discharge hoppe r. A hydraulically-controlled discharge hopper
shall be provided and shall be installed at the discharge end of the pugmill
during plant operations. The hopper shall have a capacity of not less than
2,000 pounds. When the hopper gates are opened, the entire mass of mix shall
drop without restriction into a truck. The hopper gates shall be operated by
means of a hydraulic ram receiving power from a hydraulic pump mounted on the
mixer. The control for the hopper gates shall be accessible to the operator
from the operator's platform. The hopper shall be constructed of steel sheet
not less than 0.100 inch thick.
3.22.14 Controls and instrument panel. All operating controls of the mixer

shall be located on the operator platform and shall include but shall not
be limited to controls for the following: Diesel engine master clutch, hot
elevator clutch, metering pump clutch, transfer pump clutch, pugmill clutch,
water pump controls pugmill adjustable gate, pugmill discharge hopper gates,
and diesel engine throttle. If the instrument panel for the diesel engine
furnishing power to the mixer is not visible to the operator from the opera-
tor's platform, duplicate engine control devices of the warning-light type
shall be furnished and mounted on the platform.
3.22.15 Operator's platform. A steel platform of expanded metal (unflat-
tened) with all necessary frames, guard rails, steps, ladders, and handholds
shall be provided and installed on the mixer. The expanded metal shall have
openings not greater than 3/4 inch, shall be of sufficient thick ness, and
shall be provided with steel bracing and supports so as to result in a sturdy
assembly. The platform shall be located so as to afford access to all con-
trols and inspection points necessary to enable this operator to control all
mixer operations as specified herein.
3.23 Piping system and wood blocking. Piping system (such as pipe, pipe
fittings, and values) required to assemble the mixing plant in all central
plant arrangments specified in 3.1 and shown on the drawings furnished under
3.1.4 shall be furnished. Wood burning shall not be furnished, but the
dimensions and quantities of wood blocking components shall be shown on the
drawings. The quality of piping system components and materials shall be as
shown on DL13216E9731, but quantities and dimensions shall be applicable to
the configuration of the mixing plant furnished. The quanity of each piping
system component furnished shall be equal to the number required to assemble
the mixing plant in tha central. plant arrangement that requires the largest
number of the component. The quantities furnished will therefore permit any
of the specified central plant arrangements to be set up separately, but no
two arrangements simultaneously.
