MILITARY SPECIFICATION
MARKING OF ELECTRICAL WIRES AND CABLES
This specification is approved for use by the U.S. Army Armament,
Munitions and Chemical Command, and is available for use by all
Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers the process for marking of
identification and designations on electrical wires and cables.
Marking is normally accomplished by direct hot stamping on the
outer insulation or jacket. Alternate methods involving the use
of hot-stamped or ink-stamped identification tapes and sleeves are
used in special applications. The hot-stamped markings are inked
to provide visual contrast and are impressed for permanency.
