4.5.2 Pretest of composition B4 type 1 explosive.  Each lot of
explosive used to manufacture the main charges shall be tested prior
to use in production in accordance with the following:
Test Mine, AP Assembly, M74 - Part No. 9334065-1 shall
a.
be the test vehicle.
Five (5) Test Mine Samples, with case assemblies
b.
filled with Composition B4 Type 1 shall be used in
qualification of the explosive lot.
Each sample mine shall be marked with the weight of
c.
the kill mechanism and lot number of the explosive.
Normal production S&A explosive leads (PA 517),
d.
explosive leads (PA 509) and booster pellets shall be
used in sample mines.
The sample mines shall be functioned in a test pit or
e.
inclosure for containing debris for later evaluation
and determination of order of detonation of H.E.
charge.
Observation shall be made for compliance with
f.
requirements of 3.3.  Failure of any sample shall
reject the lot.  Any Kill Mechanism which fails to
function due to initiator, explosive leads (PA 517),
explosive leads (PA 509) or booster pellets shall be
considered a no test and a replacement test mine shall
be tested in its place.
Results of test shall be supplied in accordance with 6.6.
4.5.3 HE explosive exudation test.  A sample of five (5) Kill
Mechanism, Dwg. 9292638, with loading holes facing down shall be
placed in conditioning chamber and subjected to a temperature of
1600 + 5F for a period of twenty-four (24) hours.  Observation
shall be made for compliance with requirement of 3.4.  Any failure
(Destructive test)
shall reject the lot of kill mechanisms.
Results of test shall be supplied in accordance with 6.6.
4.5.4 Verification of safe condition of body assembly.  Prior
to assembly of explosive leads and closure plug, positive
verification of each Body Assembly shall be performed.  A ten (10)
megohm input impedance voltmeter shall be used to test battery cells
and a milliohmmeter having a test current of one milliamp or less
shall be used to test short across capacitor.
