4.5.2 Pretest of Composition B4 type 1 explosive. Each lot
of explosive used to manufacture the Kill Mechanism (Dwg 9292638)
shall be tested prior to use in production in accordance with the
following:
a.
Test Mine Assembly, Dwg. 9334065 shall be the test
vehicle .
b. Five (5) Test Mine Samples, with case assemblies
filled with Composition B4 Type 1 shall be used in qualification
of the explosive lot.
c. Each sample mine shall be marked with the weight of
the kill mechanism and lot number of the explosive.
d. Normal production S&A explosive leads (PA 517) ,
explosive leads (PA 509) and booster pellets shall be used in
sample mines.
e. The sample mines shall be functioned in a test pit or
inclosure for containing debris for later evaluation and
determination of order of detonation of H.E. charge.
f. Observation shall be made for compliance with
requirements of 3.3. Failure of any sample shall reject the lot.
Any Kill Mechanism which fails to function due to initiator,
explosive leads (PA 517) , explosive leads (PA 509) or booster
pellets shall be considered a no test and a replacement test mine
shall be tested in its place.
Results of test shall be supplied in accordance with 6.4.
4.5.3 HE explosive exudation test. A sample of five (5) Kill
Mechanism, Dwg. 9292638, with loading holes facing down shall be
placed in conditioning chamber and subjected to a temperature of
160 + 5F for a period of twenty-four (24) hours.
Observation shall be made for compliance with requirement of 3.4.
Any failure shall reject the lot of kill mechanisms. (Destructive
test) Results of test shall be supplied in accordance with 6.4.
Prior
4.5.4 Verification of safe condition of body assembly.
to assembly of explosive leads and closure plug, positive
verification of each Body Assembly shall be performed. A ten (10)
megohm input impedance voltmeter shall be used to test battery
cells and a milliohmmeter having a test current of one milliamp or
less shall be used to test short across capacitor. A flush pin
gage shall be used to measure safe position of slider assembly,
and borerider.
Observation shall be made for compliance with requirements of
3.5. Any Body Assembly failing any requirement shall be classed
defective and removed from the lot. (Non-destructive tests)
4.5.5 Verification of body assembly circuit resistance.
Prior to assembly of explosive leads, resistance checks of each
Body Assembly shall be made for all triplines, receiver coil,
pressure cartridge, S&A piston acutator and S&A detonator
circuits. A milliohmeter having a test current of one
