4.5.4 Sensor assembly.
4.5.4.1 Release and thread security of sensor assembly. The
breakwire resistance shall be checked for continuity. Units which
have resistance greater than 1,000 ohms shall not be subjected to
this test. The units to be tested shall be placed in a suitable
fixture and the pressure specified in 3.4.1 shall be applied. A
unit shall be classified defective if any of the following occur:
a. Fails to release when initially pressurized as evidenced
by the bobbin core being retained within the sensor case.
b. The breakwire continuity is broken as evidenced by a
resistance greater than 1,000 ohms across the exposed ends for the
breakwire.
c.
The thread does not remain attached to the bobbin and post.
The thread breaks during release.
d.
e. Any unit that does not release when initially pressurized,
but released when the pressure is reapplied, shall be classed
defective. This test is destructive. Those units capable of
meeting the requirements of the test specified in 4.5.4.2 shall be
used for that test even if they failed to meet the requirements
for this test.
4.5.4.2 Tripline deployment of sensor assembly. After the
sensor assembly has been tested in accordance with 4.5.4.1, and
with the sensor remaining in the test fixture, observation shall
be made to assure that the bobbin core, with tripline attached, is
deployed over a vertical barrier as follows:
a. The barrier location shall be 16 feet, minimum, measured
horizontally from the sensor.
b. Barrier height shall be 7 inches, minimum, above the top
of the sensor. A bobbin core that impacts ground level before the
barrier or impacts the barrier shall be considered defective.
This test is destructive.
