| MIL-N-81207A(AS)
Distance Search Direction - When the equipment
3.4.19.1
electronically scans th e range in search of a reply signal~ the
direction of scanning shall be outward in distance from zero
miles.
Bearing Search Direction - In the absence of a
3.4.19.2
usable bearing signal, the equipment shall cause the bearing
indicator to search in the counterclockwise direction.
Speed of Response
3.4.20
3.4.20.1 Distance Speed of Response - It shall take no
longer than 1 second to search, track and display the digital
transponder distance signals when the transponder reply efficiency
is 70%. Additional time for analog display shall be less than 3
seconds.
Bearing Speed of Response - It shall take no
3.4.20.2
longer than 3 seconds to search, track and display the proper
digital bearing signals. Additional time required for analog
readout shall be less than 3 seconds. This shall apply to
combined 15 and 135 Hz as well as 15 Hz only bearing.
Tracking Rate
3.4.21
Distance Tracking Rate - When operating with a
3.4.21.1
transponder or beacon simulator which is only 50% efficient in
replying to interrogations, the equipment shall be capable of
locking-on and continuously tracking distance replies while moving
at relative speeds up to 4,500 knots in either direction along the
transponder radial.
Bearing Tracking Rate - The equipment shall be
3.4.21.2
capable of locking on and maintaining track in bearing during a
rate of change in either direction of 20 degrees per second.
3.4.21.3 External Phase Shift - The equipment shall be
capable of locking-on and maintaining lock with a bearing rate of
change of 5 per second when the phase difference between the 15
Hz and 135 Hz components of the modulation envelope external to
the equipment is 15 (at 15 Hz).
Memory
3.4.22
Distance Memory - When the equipment has been
3.4.22.1
tracking distance replies for at least 10 seconds, distance
21.
