MIL-N-81207A(AS)
(b) The delay at the 50% leading edge
amplitude point of the first received
coded pair of RF interrogation pulses and
the corresponding transmitted RF reply
pulse shall be 62 0.1 microseconds in X
mode and 74 0.1 microseconds in Y mode.
Airborne Beacon - In addition to the
3.5.1.14
requirements specified elsewhere herein, this equipment shall be
capable of determining and indicating the bearing between carrying
aircraft and other complementary aircraft equipped with the
AN/ARN-90; or the AN/ARN-84 and an antenna producing a 15 HZ
modulated rotating pattern with associated interfacing circuitry.
The interfacing circuitry shall not be part of the AN/ARN-84 and
shall meet the following requirements:
(a) Receive power and aircraft magnetic
heading information from the AN/ARN-84.
(b) Provide circuitry necessary to produce the
15 Hz antenna pattern rotation.
(c) Provide North Reference triggers to the
.
AN/ARN-84 modulator.
Transmitting  Requirements - The equipment when
3.5.1.14.1
operating with an antenna pr oducing a 15 Hz modulated rotating
pattern and associated interfacing circuitry shall transmit a 15
HZ 0.2% modulated pulse train consisting of: (1) Single pulses
or substitute squitter pulses at a rate of 1350 300 pulses per
second (distribution shall be generally random except that the
minimum interval between transmissions shall be 60 us), and (2)
reference bursts consisting of 10 pulses spaced 30 .5
microseconds apart.  With the equipment operating in the BCN mode
on a given channel, it shall be possible to transpond effectively
to each of five interrogating aircraft when their equipments are
set 63 channels from the given channel and when their signal
strength at the antenna input connector of the equipment specified
herein are within 12 to 15 dB of each other when the level of the
weakest signal is any value from -90 dBm to -l2 dBm.  The
equipment specified herein shall interrogate and lock-on to one of
the five, but it shall not be required to determine the one to
which it is locked-on.  The equipment shall not be damaged when
subjected to any number of interrogations.
