3 . 4 . 1 3 . 1 Distance speed of Response - It shall take no
longer than 30 seconds to search, track and display the trans-
p o n d e r distance signals when the transponder reply efficiency
is 70%.
3 . 4 . 1 3 . 2 Bearing Speed of Response - It shall take no
longer than 8 seconds to search, track and display the proper
b e a c o n bearing signal.
3 . 4 . 1 4 Tracking Rate:
3 . 4 . 1 4 . 1 Distance Tracking Rate - When operating with
a transponder or beacon simulator which is only 70% efficient in
r e p l y i n g to interrogations, the equipment shall be capable of
l o c k i n g - o n and continuously tracking distance replies while moving
at speeds up to 3500 knots in either direction along the transponder
radial.
3 . 4 . 1 4 . 2 Bearing Tracking Rate - The equipment shall
be capable of locking on--and maintaining track in bearing during
a rate of change in either direction of 20 degrees per second.
3.4.15
Memory:
3 . 4 . 1 5 . 1 Distance Memory - The equipment shall delay
9 to 12 seconds before searching for a lost distance signal which
had been present previously for at least 15 seconds.
3.4.15.2
Bearing
Memory - The equipment shall delay
3 to 8 seconds before searching for a lost bearing signal which
had been present previously for at least 15 seconds.
3 . 4 . 1 6 A c c u r a c y - T h e accuracies specified below shall
be determined using a standard TACAN signal as defined by Speci-
f i c a t i o n MIL-STD-287 and as modified herein. These accuracies
shall be realized when the output loading of the equipment is con-
sistent with the requirements of 3.5 and the equipment is operated
under any of the service conditions or reasonable combination
t h e r e o f as specified in Specification MIL-E-5400.
