MIL-N-85005A(AS)
*3.5.5.4.5.3
Display Quality - The Converter shall be designed so
that, in operation with the IP-886B/ASA-66 Tactical Data Display, the
CRT shall be free of spurious and extraneous presentations and noise.
Bearing lines and the HOOK cursor shall appear to originate on the
position marker.  Range circles shall be round and continuous. Modula-
tion on the circles, lines, and characters shall be below usual threshold
level.  Update of associated range/bearing/position data for each marker
shall be controlled by the Converter so that the associated data from
the Computer is all of the same time frame. Cursor, circle, and marker
brightness shall be balanced or a bench adjustment provided. The Converter
shall not be required to compensate for variations in display quality
introduced by the IP-886B\ASA-66.
3.5.5.4.6
NC Interface BITE - Circuits shall be provided
within the Converter to provide continuous monitoring as follows:
(1) Detection of failure to receive input clock or
data generated by the NC for a period exceeding
approximately one second.
(2) CMPTR MALF Discrete. The CMPTR MALF discrete
shall be interpreted to be active when either a
normal logic "1" is received or when the
differential signal level between the balanced
transmission lines is held at less than 2.0
volts.
Detection of any one of the above abnormalities
shall result in display of the Malfunction Symbol.
(Reference Paragraph
3.5.5.4.5.1.)
Controls - The Converter shall contain the following
3.5.5.5
controls depicted in Figure 21.  Depression of any of the function PBI's
shall set the associated function code and initiate a transmission of
the command word to the computer.  Depression of Gram/Trace Select PBI's
shall set the associated bits in the command word. The function PBI's
shall have opaque fields with illuminated legends. The Gram/Trace
Select PBI's shall have illuminated fields with black legends.
3.5.5.5.1
ON/OFF - A guarded toggle switch shall be provided
to turn the ITADS on in the ON position and off in the OFF position.
Power for the IP-886B/ASA-66 shall not be a function of this switch.
3.5.5.5.2
GRAM TRACE/SELECT - This group shall contain 12
PBI's, 1 associated with each of the Gram/Trace readouts of both sensor
station displays.  These indicating pushbuttons shall be normally
extinguished and shall illuminate amber when depressed and remain until
either the CLEAR, MANUAL, or AUTO PBI's have been activated. These
PBI's shall be labeled U, L, I, II, III, and IV corresponding to the
associated Gram/Trace readout unit and located adjacent to the readout.
