3.13.4.5,1 The format of the Iist shall include a heading and columns of date for the items listed. The
heading shall include titles and applicable entries as follows:

3.13.4.5.2 The list shall be so treated as to be resistant to oil, water and fading.
3.14 Stock. The selection, stock numbering and quantities or repair parts for stock shall be determined
and processed accordance with MIL-P-15137 (see 6.3).
3,14,1 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order, the cognizant supply demand control point for
repair parts for stock shall be Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4,1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the sup-

plier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as other-
wise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the
performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Govern-
ment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections
are deemed neceesary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
4.1.1 Inspection system. The inspection system which the supplier is required to maintain as provided in

the inspection clause of the contract or order shall be in accordance with MIL-I-45208 (see 6.1 and 6.3).

4.2 Classification of tests.
Tests shall be classified as follows:
(a) Performance acceptance (see 4.3).
(b) Hydrostatic (see 4.4).
4.3 Performance acceptance test,

4.3.1 One pump with motor, supply tank and all appurtenances, connected and in place as intended for ship-
board operation, of each class, design or size on each contract or order shall be operated at maximum speed and
capacity, with the pumped fluid at maximum pressure for 45 minutes taking three equally spaced bearing tempera-
ture readings to ascertain that bearing temperatures are normal. The pump shall be operated at minimum capacity,
one-half capacity and three-quarter capacity until the test values being measured stabilize, also at maximum
pressure.
4.3.2 Sufficient data shall be taken during the tests specified in 4.3.1 to show complete operating char-
acteristics of pump and driver, Capacity shall be expreseed in gph, discharge in psig and speed in strokes per
minute.

4.3.3 Government shall conduct performance tests at random of 20 percent of the total proportioning units
on the contract, and others to be manufacturer's standard test,

4.3.4 The capacity of the pump may be determined by any convenient method that will insure obtaining
results with probable errors not greater than 2 percent. Capacity of the proportioning unit shall be determined
at 100 percent, 75 percent, 50 percent and 25 percent of rating at 90 p.s.i.g. All gages shall, be calibrated
before and after the tests or more often, if necessary. Relief valve setting shall be checked (see 3.5,9.2).
During test, pumps shall be stalled by high pressure at least four times (see 4.4.1).
4.3.5 Reports$
4.3.5.1 Complete performance acceptance test reports, including copies or recorded test data covering the
following, shall be furnished as specified in 4.3.5.2:
(a) Test report of driving unit,
(b) Test report of pump.
