4.4.4.7
High temperature o perating.
Before testing, the pump shall
be conditioned at a temperature of +140 F 5 F for a period of 1 hour.
Immediately thereafter, the pump shall be operated in an environmental
temperature of +140 F 5 F for a period of 7 minutes. Otto fuel shall
be supplied to the fuel pump at +140 F 5 F. The pump shall be opera-
ted in accordance with and meet the requirements of 4.4.4.1.  Post-test
servicing and maintenance shall be performed in accordance with 4.5.7.
4.4.4.8
Vibration, packed and packaged.  The pump, packed and packaged
in accordance with Section 5, shall be vibrated in such a manner as to
determine the frequency producing maximum transmissibility within the
frequency range of 5 to 60 cps.  The container shall be fastened, in suit-
able fashion, to the table of a vibration testing device producing an
essentially sine wave motion.  The maximum permissible motion freedom
shall be approximately 1/32 inch.  The specimen shall then be vibrated
for 1 hour at the frequency producing maximum transmissibility and at an
input acceleration of 1 go  This test shall be applied to each of the
three principal orthogonal axes.
4.4.4.9
Shocks, Packed and Packaged.
The pump, packed and packaged in
accordance with Section 5, shall be subjected to free fall drop tests.
The pump in its container shall be dropped from a height of 36 inches. A
total of four edgewise drops shall be made.  Two drops, each, shall be
made on the bottom and top edges at points 180 degrees apart.  In addition,
flat drops shall be made, one each, on the bottom and on the side.  The
drops shall be made on an impact surface of essentially non-fielding
material such as stone or concrete.  The complete series of drops shall
be performed under each of the following conditions:  roan temperature,
within 10 minutes after the container has been stabilized at -45 F 5 F,
and within 10 minutes after the container has been stabilized at 140 F
4.4.4.10
Operational service life.  Each preproduction sample shall
complete the life test requirement by being subjected to a total of ten
7-minute operational tests in accordance  with 4.4.4.1 during the pre-
production test schedule, Table V. Working fluid for these tests shall
be Otto Fuel, Composition II.  The number of additional operational tests
needed to meet the life requirement is listed in Table V under "Operational
Service Life".
