Total Operating Life:
3.3.1 .2.2
The equipment shall have a minimum total operating life of
2000 hours with reasonable servicing and replacement of parts.
Mean Operating Time Between Failures:
3.3.1.2.3
The equipment shall have a calculated minimum of 300 hours of
mean operating time between failures. A failure shall be
defined as any malfunctioning which causes the equipment to
fail to meet the minimum performance requirements specified
for the equipment.
Maintenance and Field Testing:
3.3.1.3
The equipment shall be modularized to aid in maintenance and
repair. Modules shall be supplied with test point facilities
to allow for the greatest ease of maintenance.
Standard Conditions:

The following conditions shall be used to establish normal per-
formance characteristics under standard conditions and for
making laboratory bench tests.

Duty Cycle:
3.3.1.5
The equipment shall be rated to two duty cycle requirements.
One shall be a 50% duty cycle consisting of a maximum of 5
minutes in the transmit mode followed by a minimum of 5 minutes
in the receive mode. The other shall be a continuous trans-
mitting rating. The equipment shall meet the appropriate
temperature-altitude curve for each of these ratings as
required by Figure 32. The duty cycle ratings apply to all
services of operation.
