4.4.4.4 Production reliability.  The M51 shelter systems shall be
erected, and operation shall commence in accordance with the applicable
instructions contained in TM3-4240-264-12.  The systems shall be operated
for a period of 1 hour (1/2 hour heating and l/2 hour cooling) with per.
formance requirements specified in table I measured and recorded once
one half hour into each mode, disassembled, and prepared for stowage
but not stowed,  Sufficient number of cycles shall be conducted as
specified in 4.4,3.3 to demonstrate 0.90 overall system and 0.95 protec.
tion reliability at the 60 percent confidence level. Normal operational
procedures only shall be allowed during each 1 hour run time per cycle;
i.e. no preventive maintenance, component repair or replacement shall be
allowed.  Any such occurrence necessitating  any of the above actions
shall be classified" as a protection or system failure as specified in
3.4.3.1 and 3.4.3.2, respectively.
PACKAGING

5.1 Preservation, level A.  The preservation procedures for the M68
utilities unit and accessories (PL5-19-6821) shall be as follows.  The
preservation requirements for the shelter and entrance with accessories
( PL5-19-6822) shall be in accordance with MIL-S-51422.
5.1.1 Cleaning and dryinq.  The M68 utilities unit and accessories
(PL5-l9-6821 ), less filters, shall be cleaned and dries in accordance
with MIL-STD-281.
5.1.2 Preservative application.  The M68 utilities unit with accessories
(PL5-19-6821) , less filters, shall be preserved in accordance with MIL-STD-
281.  All system filters identified on Drawing E5-19-5000 and E5-19-6523
shall be preserved in accordance with their applicable specifications (MIL-
F-51369 and  MIL-F-51366) and packaging data sheets, which are identified
by the national stock number.
5.1.3 Unit packing.
5.1.3.1 Accessory items.  Accessory items, not permanently mounted,
and filter housings and filters shall be packaged as specified herein.
5.1.3.1.1 Tool box contents (D5-19-6525). These tools shall be
packaged as specified on D5-19-6525.  In the absence of detailed pack-
aging description, items susceptible to corrosion shall be packaged
in accordance with method I of MIL-P-116 and items not susceptible to
corrosion shall be packaged in accordance with method III of MIL-P-116.
The packaged contents shall be placed in the tool box as required on
D5-19-6525.
