This specification was approved by the Departments
of the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force for use of
procurement services of the respective Departments.
SCOPE
1.
1.1 Scope.- This specification covers the manufacture, inspection, and testing
bomb shackle, designated Bomb Shackle, Mark 8, Mod 2, Mod 3, or Mod 4 for
of one type of
use in suspending and releasing bombs, depth charges, etc., from various types of air-
craft.
1.2 Classification.- The model designation of the Mark 8 shackle is determined
by the steel used for manufacture of the bomb suspension hooks. All other shackle com-
ponents are identical. The material-s specified for hooks, and the model designation
assigned for each material is listed below:
