inflight testing, alignment of equipment, exclusive of compass calibration, and
shall provide fault isolation down to the defective weapons replaceable
assembly.
3.5.3.4.6.1 BIT Indicator - A BIT failure indicator shall be provided on
the Electronic Control Amplifier as specified herein and shall be visible
without disassembly of the amplifier case. The indicator shall be tripped to a
latched position upon command from the BIT monitor circuitry located in the
Electronic Control Amplifier. Loss of electrical power to the Electronic
Control Amplifier as specified herein shall not indicate a failure.
3.5.3.4.7 Mounting - Mounting for the Amplifier shall be of the "quick-
disconnect or removal type in accordance with Figure 13.
3.5.3.4.8 Time Totalizer Meter - The Amplifier shall contain a Time
Totalizer Meter conforming to MS27651 or MS17322.
3.5.3.4.9 Cooling Requirement - Cooling requirements shall be provided for
the Electronic Control Amplifier as specified in 3.3.13.
3.5.3.4.10 Amplifier Data Processor -
3.5.3.4.10.1 Function - The amplifier data processor, contained within the
SOARS Electronic Control Amplifier shall be a general purpose digital processor
with sufficient capability to provide the system performance characteristics
specified herein. The processor shall accept input parameters from the Gyro-
scope, Compensator and Controller via appropriate circuits in the ECA. The
processor shall perform the computations required by the heading slaving loop,
the vertical erection loop, and built-in-test equipment.
3.5.3.4.10.2 Memory - The amplifier data processor shall contain at least
2,048 words of memory, with an expansion capacity of 50 percent. The memory
shall be nonvolatile semiconductor. A data word shall be 16 bits in length.
The memory cycle time shall be 2.0 microseconds or less. For each new contrac-
tually assigned procurement activity aircraft application(s), a minimum of two
pluggable module memories shall be made available for the development and
resolution of each application's software requirements.
3.5.3.4.10.3 Arithmetic Unit - The amplifier data processor shall perform
addition in hardware in less than 2.6 microseconds.
3.5.3.4.10.4 Program - The program shall provide for the amplifier data
processor to perform all necessary calculations, arithmetic operations not hard-
ware implemented, and logical decisions. The program shall also have the
ability to determine velocity reference validity, independent of the invalid
discrete as supplied.
3.5.3.4.10.5 External Analog Interface - Means shall be provided for data
exchange from external analog references or sources of the internal digital
format of the Electronic Control Amplifier Processor.
