3.
REQUIREMENTS
3 . 1 I t e m d e f i n i t i o n .  The MHU-110/M munitions handling trailer
i s a six-wheel flatbed trailer configured with accessory equipment
t o allow transport of Air Force munitions [single or pre-loaded)
t o the flight line from munitions storage areas.  T h e trailer has
a capacity of 15,000 pounds, a n d is capable of negotiating a
T y p e III mobility course as outlined in MIL-M-8090. The trailer
has also the capability of traversing (fifty passes) a soil
h a v i n g a v e h i c l e r a t i n g c o n e i n d e x ( R C I5 0) e q u a l t o 4 5 .
3 . 1 . 1 M a j o r c o m p o n e n t l i s t . T h e major components components of the trailer
a r e as follows:

3.2 Characteristics.
3.2.1 Performance.
3 . 2 . 1 . 1 B r a k e s y s t e m . P a r k i n g and service brakes shall be pro-
vialed as specified in MIL-M-8090.
S e r v i c e brakes shall be the
i n e r t i a - a c t u a t e d hydraulic type with a one-second delay dumping
c y c l e to permit trailer backup.  T h e pressure release (dumping
c y c l e ) shall be accomplished automatically.
3.2.1.2 Environmental conditions. The trailer shall withstand
t h e following conditions without detrimental effect on subsequent
operations.
High temperature +125F
Low temperature -65F
Sand and dust
Rain
3 . 2 . 1 . 3 S t r u c t u r a l s t r e n g t h .  T h e trailer shall be capable of
w i t h s t a n d i n g the following loads without incurring damage or
p e r m a n e n t set.
a.  15,000 pounds s u p p o r t e d by diagonally opposite wheels with
20% on the front wheel and 80% on the rear wheels.
b .  45,000 pounds with 20% on the front wheels and 80% on t h e
r e a r wheels.
