5.
PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5 . 1 P r e s e r v a t i o n a n d p a c k a g i n g . P r e s e r v a t i o n and p a c k a g i n g shall
b e level A or C, as specified (see 6.2).
5 . 1 . 1 Level A or C.  E a c h trailer with accessories shall be
preserved and packaged in accordance with MIL-STD-281.
P a c k i n g shall be Level A, B or C as specified
5.2 Packing.
(see 6.2) .
5 . 2 . 1 L e v e l A .  E a c h trailer, preserved and packaged as specified
i n 5.1, shall be shipped as a mobile unit. A c c e s s o r y equipment shall
b e packed in shipping containers conforming to PPP-B-601, overseas
t y p e , style A or B.  I n t e r i o r cushioning, anchoring, blocking, bracing,
a n d waterproofing shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-1186. The
c o n t a i n e r will be strapped to the deck of the trailer with 1 1/4 inch
strapping conforming to QQ-S-781.
5 . 2 . 2 L e v e l B .  Level B packing shall be the same as Level A
e x c e p t the accessory equipment shipping container shall conform to
P P P - B - 6 0 1 , domestic type, style A or B.
5 . 2 . 3 L e v e l C .  T h e t r a i l e r s , p a c k a g e d as specified in 5.1, shall
b e packed to incur carrier acceptance and safe delivery at destination.
C o n t a i n e r s shall conform to the Uniform Freight Classification Rules
o r regulations of other carriers as applicable to the mode of
t r a n s p o r t a t i o n .  T h i s may conform to the supplier's commercial
p r a c t i c e when such meets the requirements of this level.
5 . 3 Marking.  I n addition to any special marking required by the
contract or order, the trailers and shipping containers shall be
marked in accordance with the requirements of ML-STD-129.

6 . 1 I n t e n d e d u s e .  T h e trailer described herein is intended for
u s e by the Air Force to transport nonnuclear munitions over rough
terrain and paved surfaces in support of tactical aircraft operations.
