MIL-T-46765(AT)
the hose reel assembly and the 125 mm (5-inch) diameter pipe. The hose shall be connected at
the other end to the eductor housing.
3.5.9.6 Underground suction hose. One 4570 mm (15-foot) length of 75 mm (3-inch) id
suction hose with quick disconnect type cam lock couplings shall be provided.
3.5.10 Power hose reel assembly. A power hose reel assembly shall be furnished and
installed on the front curbside of the tank body, and shall be so constructed that the sand suction
hose shall be connected to a pivot. The sewage shall be drawn through the eductor intake
opening into the sand suction hose and through the pivot joint, and discharged through a 125 mm
(5-inch) diameter pipe extending along the top deck and down into the rear tank compartment.
The power hose reel shall be hydraulically controlled and operated by the reel control lever to
raise and lower the eductor housing assembly. There shall be a bolted-on cleanout plate located
on the pivot joint for cleanout.
3.5.11 Eductor assembly. An eductor assembly shall be furnished and shall remove
liquefied sewage from underground. The eductor assembly shall consist of a housing and a
nozzle. The eductor housing shall be of cast iron and shall have three openings: a threaded
opening for connecting the pressure pipe; an opening for connecting the sand suction hose; and
an eductor intake opening. The eductor nozzle shall have a 25 mm (l-inch) diameter orifice,
shall be located inside the eductor housing, and shall be replaceable. With the pump delivering
water at 620 kPa (90 psi) pressure to the eductor nozzle and with the eductor assembly at ground
level, a minimum suction rate of 95 kPa (28 inches) mercury shall be created at the eductor
intake opening.
3.5.11.1 Agitator hose and tube assembly. An agitator hose and tube assembly shall be
furnished and shall use water under pressure to break up solids in sewer basins enabling the
eductor intake opening to draw sewage into the suction hose. The hose and tube assembly shall
be rated for a water pressure of 690 kPa (100 psi). A 25 mm (l-inch) id hose, not less than
3050 mm (10 feet) long, shall be furnished and shall be fitted with 25 mm (l-inch), screw-on
high pressure fittings. One hose fitting shall connect to the 25 mm (l-inch) fitting on the pressure
side of the centrifugal pump (see 3.5.8.1(d)). A 25 mm (l-inch) id tube, not less than 3050 mm
(10 feet) long, shall be connected to the other high-pressure hose fitting. The tube shall be fitted
on one end with a screw-on type pressure fitting and an adjustable valve.
3.5.11.2 Water suction and pressure connections. All connections and components shall be
watertight and air tight to prevent loss of vacuum or pressure and shall withstand the pressure
and vacuum required to meet the requirements specified herein.
