MIL-T-46765(AT)
3.5.12 Self-propelled sewer nozzle. A self-propelled, pump actuated nozzle for cleaning
blocked sewer laterals and culverts shall be provided. Fifteen meters (50 feet) of 64 mm
(2.5-inch) diameter sewer cleaning hose for use with the nozzle shall be furnished and stowed on
the vehicle.
3.5.13 Hydraulic system. A hydraulic system shall be provided. The hydraulic system shall
operate the hydraulic hoist for discharging the tank, shall operate the hose reel for raising and
lowering the eductor assembly, and shall operate the baffle agitator for clearing the front baffle
of sewage.
*  3.5.13.1 Hydraulic hoist. The hydraulic hoist shall be the manufacturer's standard with a
minimum lifting capacity rating of class 50 for size 1200 trucks and class 70 for size 2000 trucks
in accordance with the National Truck Equipment Association Dump Hoist Chart. The hoist
shall lift the body to a minimum dumping angle of 50 degrees from top of truck chassis frame.
Valve and power controls shall be located on the curb side of the vehicle, in a location accessible
to an operator standing on the ground.
3.5.13.2 Hydraulic pump. A hydraulic pump shall be provided and shall deliver a constant
volume at various speeds. The pump shall have a minimum capacity of 8620 kPa (1250 psi) at
1800 revolutions per minute (rpm) and shall be of sufficient size to provide power to elevate the
tank body with full payload, to lower and raise the power hose reel assembly at various depths,
and to power the baffle agitator.
3.5.13.2.1 Hydraulic pump oil reservoir. A hydraulic oil reservoir, with a bolted-on cover
and a seal with a replaceable filter mounted inside on the discharge port, shall be provided. The
oil reservoir shall have a drain plug located underneath the reservoir. The reservoir shall have a
splash proof vented fill cap and dip stick with graduation marks. An intake port shall be
provided. The reservoir shall have sufficient capacity to operate the hydraulic circuit, plus a
20 percent reserve capacity.
3.5.13.3 Flow control valve. A flow control valve shall be provided and mounted into the
system to divert the hydraulic oil either to the hydraulic hoist motor or to operate the
hydraulically operated hose reel. If either the hydraulic hoist, hose reel, or baffle agitators are
not operating, the hydraulic pump shall continue to circulate oil through the flow control valve
and return the oil to the oil reservoir.
3.5.13.4 Three-way valves. Two three-way valves with snubbers shall be provided. One
three-way valve shall operate the hose reel motor and hose reel brake cylinder. The second
three-way valve shall operate the tank hoist cylinder.
