3.5.13.5 Velocity valves. A secondary hydraulic system shall be provided with velocity
valves to prevent the tank body or hose reel from collapsing if a hydraulic line should rupture.
3.5.13.6 Hydraulic hose reel brake system. A hydraulic hose reel brake system shall be
furnished and shall actuate upon demand of the operator. The brake shall be of sufficient
capacity and size to permit lowering or raising the eductor assembly to any depth that is required.
The hydraulic brake shall have built-in devices to prevent any slippage.
3.5.13.7 Hydrau1ic control levers. Control levers for the hydraulically operated devices
shall be furnished, shall be accessible to the operator from the curb side of the vehicle while the
operator is standing on the ground, and shall be adjacent to the operators work area. The control
levers shall be panel mounted, identified as to their function, waterproof, and installed in a
manner to facilitate removal and service.
3.5.13.8 Hydraulic pressure lines and fittings. All hydraulic pressure lines shall be steel
hydraulic tubing, black pipe, or wire braid hoses with permanently attached fittings. All fittings
with threads shall have dry seal fits. Sizes of all hydraulic lines shall conform to the rate of flow
and pressure required to operate the hydraulic system smoothly, quietly, and efficiently.
3.5.13.9 Hydrau1ic circuit valve enclosure. Hydraulic valves shall be enclosed with a
16 gage (1.519 mm) (0.0598 inch) steel, waterproof vented enclosure, and shall be installed in a
manner to facilitate removal and servicing of the hydraulic circuit.
3.5.14 Cabinet. A cabinet shall be provided on one side of the vehicle. The cabinet shall be
of a full-flanged, flush-type construction to carry at least the loads imposed and of a size to house
the fresh water tank, sewage tank tools, fittings, and sanitary cleaning supplies. Door(s) shall be
top hung and equipped with piano hinges having noncorrosive pins. Hinges shall be bolted to
cabinet door(s). Door(s) shall have countersunk locking handles and two point locking
mechanism keyed alike. The cabinet shall be constructed of not less than 16 gage (1.516 mm)
(0.0598 inch) hot-rolled mild steel. Door(s) shall be constructed to prevent vibration. The
cabinet shall be storm proof and shall include provisions for flushing and draining.
3.5.15 Lights. In addition to lighting specified in 3.4.2.3, the following lighting and wiring
requirements shall be provided:
(a) A light in the cabinet
(b) Two sealed beam floodlights, mounted in swivel type holders with weatherproof
switches, conforming to SAE J598. One floodlight shall be mounted on the left top
side at the rear of the truck, and one on the curbside at the forward end of the tank.
Both lights shall be accessible from the ground;
