4.6.2.34 Endurance/reliability. Two trucks shall be tested for a
total of 625 hours. The testing shall be in accordance with the
following schedule: One truck shall complete all "part A" tests and
the other truck shall complete all "part B" tests.

Reliability and endurance will be evaluated using this test. More
than 11 reliability failures (see 4.6.2.35) shall constitute failure
of this test. No endurance failures (see 4.6.2.34.1) are allowed.
Relevant failures will be determined by an authorized Government
representative. The truck shall perform all tests without exceeding
specified temperature limits for the cooling system (see 3.10.2.6),
engine oil (see 3.10), transmission oil (see 3.11), universal joint
(see 3.11), hydraulic system (see 3.12). Nonconformance shall
constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.34.1 Endurance failure. An endurance failure is any failure
which results in permanent structural deformation of the truck or its
components; or any failure which is corrected by redesign or by
replacement of a failed component with a component of different
configuration in order to meet specified performance requirements; or
any failure resulting in replacement of the engine, transmission,
transfer case, differential, hydraulic pumps or motors, hydrostatic
drive pumps or motors, hydraulic cylinders or the drive axle.
4.6.2.35 Reliability failure. A reliability failure is defined as
any malfunction which causes degradation of specified operations or
any other unscheduled maintenance action to be taken in order to
restore the forklift to specified requirements. Those malfunctions
resulting from accidents, noncompli nce with prescribed operational
a
or maintenance procedures, faulty test instru entation, fail-safe
m
devices operating as specified, and dependent secondary failures
shall be considered nonrelevent failures. Nonrepetitive replacement
of light bulbs, fuses, tires, and tightening of fasteners shall be
considered nonrelevent failures. Any impending malfunction detected
which constitutes a safety hazard to operating personnel or would
cause secondary damage either to the item under test or testing
instrumentation will be corrected prior to malfunction and considered
as a relevant failure. Hours specified herein shall be productive
clock hours excluding fueling, servicing, and downtime. In addition,
failure to meet the fuel tank capacity specified in 3.10.2.4, or
exceeding the temperature limits specified for the cooling system
(see 3.10.2.6), engine oil (see 3.10), transmission oil (see 3.11),
universal joints (see 3.11), or hydraulic system (see 3.12) shall
constitute failure of this evaluation.
