TEST METHOD NO. 29 (CONT'D)
g. Samples shall be
taken from the lowest point of the following
at the beginning
of the test, at the completion of 5 days of
the test, at the
completion of 10 days of the test, at the
completion of 20
days of the test, and at the conclusion of
test:
(1)
Torque converter sump.
(2)
Engine oil sump.
(3)
Transmission.
(4)
Transfer case.
(5)
Fuel tank.
(6)
Hydraulic reservoir.
(7)
Each axle.
(8)
Each wheel hub (for planetary hubs only).
h. Samples shall be taken not more than 10 minutes after engine
shutdown and exercise of all functions on land for not less
than 30 minutes. Sample size shall be not less than 200 cubic
centimeters each and shall be analyzed for volumetric water
content by a means having an accuracy of 1 percent. Samples
shall be replaced with new lubricant.
NOTE: During the performance of this test, the tire-inflation
pressure may be reduced consistent with the flotation index
calculations stipulated in 3.9.2, Vehicle Flotation.
