(a) An L-section desk/counter surfaced with Formica or equal, with a center drawer. A
2-drawer file cabinet with lock and storage cabinets under desk. Storage cabinets
above desk on streetside.
(b) A floor-to-ceiling staff closet equipped with access door and keyed lock, located at
the end of the counter on the curb side.
(c) Castered upholstered chair for the interviewer and upholstered pedestal stool with
backrest for the donor. Straps or holding devices shall be furnished to secure the
chair and the stool when in transit.
3.5.10.2 Donor area. The donor area shall have:
(a) A floor-to-ceiling partition with safety handrail installed adjoining the stepwell.
(b) Three counters surfaced with Formica or equal, with removable, fitted pads secured
with Velcro holding devices, of adequate size for use as donor beds. Counter height
shall be 29 inches plus a 4-inch pad.
(c) Storage cabinets and drawers built under each donor bed. Latches shall be provided
to insure positive closing for security in transit.
3.5.10.3 Recovery area. The recovery area shall have:
(a) Built-in upholstered lounge seat with backrest, with storage compartment under
lift-up seat.
(b) A work counter, surfaced with Formica or equal, with stainless steel sink inset in
counter. Storage cabinet above counter at ceiling. Coffee urn mounted on counter
top adjacent to sink.
3.5.10.4 Laboratory area. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), laboratory area shall
have:
(a) Folding doors installed at both streetside and curbside of body, with center latching
device, to separate laboratory area from recovery area.
(b) Two DuPont Sorvall Model RC-3B, with rotor, of latest available model or equal,
automatic refrigerated centrifuges installed, wired and secured. Centrifuge units
shall include elevated control panel with combined master switch and circuit
breaker, speed selector permitting automatic acceleration to all speeds from 150 rpm
to 6,000 rpm, gyro-action self-centering direct drive, heavy duty refrigeration system
with temperature control range from plus 32F (0Celsius (C)) to plus 86F (30C);
