approximately 380 mm (15 inches) in depth before the application of the foam cushioning
specified herein. Each cubicle shall be designed to accept a payload of 23 kg (50 pounds).
3.5.4.2.5 Doors. Two side hung cabinet doors shall be furnished. Doors shall be rigid with
edges formed to a channel shape. Mitered corners shall be welded. Door hinges shall be of the
continuous type and located at left and right hand sides of cabinet front. Doors shall cover the
cubicles and the drawers. Foam thickness on the doors shall be of sufficient thickness to assure a
tight closure of the cubicles when the doors are closed. Door openings shall be the maximum
attainable without the doors in the open position interfering with the other fixed items. The
cabinet doors shall be stenciled with "MAXIMUM LOAD 91 KG (200 POUNDS)." Each door
shall have a double point latching mechanism operated from a single centrally located turn
handle or a recessed paddle type latch may be used in lieu of the turn handle. Provisions shall be
made for key locking the cabinet doors. The handle or paddle type latch shall be of sufficient
size to be easily grasped with at least two gloved fingers and the thumb. When the doors are
closed, the door shall not vibrate and shall fit snug. The latching and locking mechanism shall
not bind.
3.5.4.3 Spare parts cabinet. A spare parts cabinet shall be furnished as specified herein.
The curbside cabinet shall be constructed of steel or aluminum and shall be reinforced to support
the loads specified herein (see figure 4).
3.5.4.3.1 Cabinet base. The cabinet base shall enclose the curbside wheelwell housing.
The cabinet base and the cabinet shall be of the same length dimensions. The cabinet base at the
floor level shall be recessed 50 mm (2 inches) in depth (in relation to the cabinet) and 230 mm
(9 inches) in height. Recess in the cabinet base will provide sufficient area to tie down the two
container assemblies that will be stowed between curbside and the streetside cabinets. The
cabinet and cabinet base shall be provided with back(s).
3.5.4.3.2 Cabinet. The spare parts cabinet shall consist of four cubicles, two drawers and
two full length side hung hinged doors. The two doors shall enclose the four cubicles and the
two drawers. The cabinet shall be of the same overall height as the mete/plug-in cabinet
(see 3.5.4.2). The exterior width of the cabinet shall be a maximum of 865 mm (34 inches) and a
minimum of 380 mm (15 inches) in depth.
3.5.4.3.3 Cabinet drawers. Two cabinet drawers in a horizontal plane immediately over the
wheelwell housing shall be provided. The minimum interior dimensions of each drawer shall be
838 mm (13.50 inches) in width; 190 mm (7.50 inches) in length; and 82 mm (3.25 inches) in
height. The drawers shall be identical and shall be located below the four cubicles referenced in
3.5.4.3.4. Each drawer shall be designed to accept a payload of 12 kg (2ounds). Each drawer
