permit the use of lamps and outlets of the flush mounted type. All wiring shall be fastened or
clipped at points of bending and shall be protected against chafing and damage.
*  3.5.9.1 Alternating current system. A 120-volt ac system for interior electrical devices shall
be furnished and shall conform to the requirements of NFPA No.70 (National Electrical Code).
The system shall be complete and shall include a panel enclosure with not less than six circuit
breakers. a junction box. receptacles with ground fault circuit interrupters, power supply and
other equipment as specified herein.
*  3.5.9.1.1 Outside receptacle. A weatherproof, heavy duty, receptacle with a hinged,
spring-loaded, gasketed cover shall be mounted on the outside of the body front wall, not more
than 6 feet above the ground, near the curb (right) side. The receptacle shall be rated at 120 volt
with a capacity of not less than 60 amperes. A matching cable plug with a self-locking device
shall be furnished.
*  3.5.9.1.2 Interior receptacles. Four 120-volt, 20-ampere rated, duplex receptacles with
ground fault circuit interrupters shall be furnished and connected to the ac system at the junction
box. Each receptacle shall be on a separate circuit and shall be protected by a separate
20-ampere circuit breaker. Two receptacles shall be placed on each side wall at a height of
approximately 48 inches from the floor. The two receptacles on each side shall be equally
spaced approximately 42 inches from the vertical centerline of the side wall. All receptacles and
their respective circuit breakers shall be appropriately labeled for identification.
*  3.5.9.2 Direct current system. A power supply shall be furnished to convert the 120-volt ac
(see 3.5.9.1) to 12 volts dc. The power supply shall have sufficient output capacity to operate the
exhaust fan specified in 3.5.9.2.1 and the domelights (dc) specified in 3.5.9.3.1. The power
supply shall be mounted in a single housing and shall be installed on the front wall within the
van body.
3.5.9.2.1 Exhaust fan. A 12-volt dc exhaust fan with a capacity of not less than
220 cubic feet per minute shall be furnished and mounted inside the van body on the streetside of
the rear wall. A selector switch shall be provided to connect the fan to either the vehicle chassis
12-volt system or the dc system specified in 3.5.9.2. The fan selector switch shall be
appropriately labeled and installed on the power supply housing. The exhaust fan shall be
provided with a shroud or other means for ensuring personnel safety.
3.5.9.3 Interior lighting. Interior lighting shall be provided by eight domelights arranged as
specified herein.
